Biography
Abigail Lewis (b. 2006) is a composer from the Dallas–Fort Worth area whose music is marked by expressive depth, text sensitivity, and a vivid sense of color. Lewis has been praised for her “remarkable ear for tone color and sensitivity to sound” and the “depth and vibrancy” of her music (Jocelyn Hagen). An accomplished singer as well, she channels her artistry through both voice and composition, writing with particular attention to the emotional and tonal possibilities of the human voice. Her works often explore themes of nature and human emotion, balancing lyricism with textural curiosity.
Lewis began composing for choir in 2022, and by age 19 had seen 18 of her works premiered. Her music has been commissioned and performed by ensembles such as the University of North Texas Concert Choir, Inversion Ensemble, and the Choral Arts Initiative among others. In 2025, she was named a Composer Fellow for the Choral Arts Initiative's PREMIERE|Project Festival. Her works are currently published by Graphite Publishing and MusicSpoke.
