The Echoes

This piece was written for the University of North Texas Concert Choir as a part of their concert about self compassion. “The Echoes” explores the thoughts and feelings that invade in times of depression, bullying, and self doubt. The narrator sinks deeper into despair as the choir echoes these negative thoughts; ones that stem from the outside, but soon begin to come from within. These words engulf the listener, and become an echo chamber until the realization comes that there are people who love, who accept, and who will build you up.
